Chile Cybersecurity Briefing: New Cybersecurity Framework Standards

Cybersecurity has become one of the greatest concerns of the last decade for companies, mainly due to the fact that the demands of a modern and hyperconnected market require better and more efficient logical and design security features to protect a company, its assets and its customers.

Chile is not foreign to these concerns. Cybercrime has boomed in the region, especially ransomware and phishing attacks, which pose a gigantic threat for companies and customers. In 1993, Chile enacted the Cybercrime law, which created a small catalogue of four crimes that can be enabled or accomplished through computers and other digital vehicles. Said law was quickly undermined and outdated by cybercriminals, who found it easy to be untouched by these small amounts of criminal classifications with other activities.

The future of energy: navigating the transition to renewables and beyond

In 2022, the Australian Government enshrined in law our nation’s commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050.

The climate change legislation sets aggressive targets for reducing carbon emissions by 2030 and realising Net Zero by 2050, with the government’s Long Term Emissions Reduction Plan detailing Australia’s planned approach.

Billions of dollars are being allocated to support the transition, and forward-thinking organisations within the energy and resources sector will be in a prime position to take advantage.

The scale and complexity of change will be enormous, as a recent report by Net Zero Australia found. The report was a culmination of several years of research, and takes a deep dive into the pathways Australia will need to take to achieve its emissions goals by 2050 and support export markets to do the same by 2060.

Tax reform should facilitate investments in Brazil

Approved on Friday, July 7th, in the Chamber of Deputies, the reform aims to simplify the national tax system. The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) celebrates the advances of the constitutional amendment proposal (PEC), which is expected to make Brazil a more competitive and even more attractive destination for foreign investments.

The measure has been under discussion for over 20 years and proposes the replacement of taxes applied to all stages of the production chain in Brazil. The reform reduces the complexity of the rules, instability, and tax burden, increasing transparency and benefiting Brazilian and foreign entrepreneurs.
